I got chance to visit Kolkata in June 2013 and I really loved it. I travelled mostly in public transport. I found the people there of very helping nature. I started my city tour post my work there in evening of Day 1. it began with the visit of Kalighat temple for which I took a metro from shyambazaar station to Kalighat station. I advise you to be very beware of priests there, they will try to fetch money from you by forcing you to do puja there. Then I went to see the ancestral home of the great Indian freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose. Actually I was very curious to see it after watching it in movie 'Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose: The Forgotten Hero' . It was somewhat close to metro station 'Netaji Bhawan' and thus its visit concluded my first day.

The Belur Math is the headquarter of Ramakrishna Mission and it had a very peaceful environment. I meditate for some time there and saw the museum which showcased the entire life of the Ramakrishna and his great disciple Swami Vivekananda. it also hosts a place where Swamiji took his last breath.
Then I went to see Birla Planetorium which was very unique as one old lady was anchoring the space tour in a very clear and crisp voice. it was mesmerizing.

From there, I went to see the Victoria Memorial which showcases British heritage there. it has sculptures of various Viceroys who served in British Raj.
Then I went to see the Science City which was around 9 KM from here. It is one of its kind and the largest Science centre in India. I watched the documentary 'Adventures in Wild California' there which was breathtaking and awesome. Thus this visit concluded my day and hence my stay in Kolkata. I am feeling nostalgia while I am writing this. I would love to come back to visit the city in future. Also, I pledged to learn bengali language after experiencing how sweet it is and the people who speak. I love Bengal.
